Moving up, moving out, moving on...

It's been two weeks since I started my new COA (Conference Office Assistant) position. So far it's been good, I've been doing odd jobs around the office and just helping the new CA's with whatever questions they might have. I already turned in my first timesheet, which was only for two weeks of work, and it's a big one. I'm so glad I got the raise! The head of Conferences is fairly new to her job and is learning along with the CA's on how we've run Conferences in the past. Megan and I are in our third year working for conferences and are not letting our way of running things change, so we are slowly training her and showing her "the right" way of doing things. We do get frustrated with her, but I think it's necessary for this to happen so that when Megan and I leave conferences will still run smoothly.
My summer apartment is still not ready and we're closing in on two weeks of the conference season. In the past two summers I was ready to move into my new apartment within 4 days of starting conferences, I really can't believe it's taking this long! I'm hoping to have my key by Friday so that I have the weekend to move, except that this weekend is my birthday weekend. I don't know if I'll have time to move in. Saturday night I'm supposed to go to Orange County to party with my friend Danielle because her birthday was yesterday, so I'm really excited to go. I work all day Saturday too, so I won't be able to get any moving done during the day. Sunday is my birthday, I'll be 21! I know that I'm excited to turn 21 but my friends and I are completely broke, so I'm not sure how much celebrating there'll be.
Anyways, Sunday I'm going to Oxnard to my grandma's house for my sister Letty's babyshower. Yes, she will be having her third baby soon. At 23 she will be a mother of 3, all I have to say is that I'm glad it's not me. Speaking of which, I was browsing through my friends on Myspace today and noticed that so many of my friends from high school, my age and younger, are having kids! I can't believe it, and I've just been thinking about what it would be like to have a kid at this age. There is no way that I would want that for myself right now and am just in awe at all these girls having kids so young, it's crazy to me. Ok, so moving on to Monday, it's another day off work for me, so I could move Monday. Hopefully it works out and I'll be moved out by the end of this weekend.
Finally, I know that I have to be out of my summer apartment by August 13th, meaning that by August 13th I'll be moved into my new apartment with Amber, Adriana, and Danielle. It's so exciting knowing the actual date. The countdown to that day has officially begun and I'm really excited to move out of the dorms and move on to bigger things. I'm really looking forward to actually living at the apartment. I know that I practically live there now, but once I move in I'll really feel at home there because all my stuff will be there too. Now I feel comfortable there, but nothing there is really mine. I'm really looking forward to adding my touch to the apartment and having my own space as well. Sharing a room with Amber is going to be so much fun and living with Danielle is going to be awesome because we're going to share clothes! I really can't wait for this transition and hope that everything goes smoothly.
P.S. I chose the picture of a Cali Lily because I plan to get a tattoo soon and I want it to be a Cali Lily... so hopefully I'll get that next month!

Checkin Out

I had a moment at work so I figured I would write a blog about CSUN's Student Housing Check out. This is my third year working check out and I just want to inform all of you that check out is the worst day of the year here. It's always really hott and I always have to run around because people forget their keys. I had a great night last night and got to hang out with people that are going to be gone for the summer. So I didn't get to go to sleep until like 4 this morning and I left my phone on silent all night. I forgot to turn the volume up so this morning when my alarm went off, I didn't hear it. I woke up on my own at 8:30 this morning and bolted to work without showering or anything. I got to work and I know that my supervisor, Marlyn, was pissed at me. But as soon as it got really busy, around 9 this morning, she forgot she was mad because we were that busy.

I kept running into people I know who are leaving for the summer, and I kept getting emotional today. Cisco left and I ran into him right before he was going to leave, which made me happy. I'm glad we got to say goodbye. I stopped by my own room today too and caught my roomates before they took off. I know I was never at my dorm, but I'm going to miss them too. I really liked coming home to them, they were always up to something. It was good times coming home and getting caught up on all their lives. Those girls were great roomates, I was the bad one. But I know that we'll spend time together in the future, I hope.

Anyways, this day is almost over and I'm ready to start my summer. Finally.

Wrappin up the school year...

I haven't posted a single blog since February. Yea, it's May. I thought it was time for an update so here goes.

The semester will be officially over in 3 days and it's so bittersweet for me. I'm looking forward very much for the summer. I'm going to be working my third summer at Conference Services, but this summer I got promoted to Conference Office Assistant. I'm very excited to take this position and I think I'm goin to do a good job. My superior is one of my good friends, Megan, and we are going to have a blast just doing what we've done for the past two years, late night cooking sessions are movie nights. I'm also looking forward very much to hang out with my best friends Amber and Adriana. We've known eachother for about two years and this will be our second summer together... but I have a feeling that we wont get to hang out as much as we would like only because I know how my job gets and it keeps me pretty busy. Lastly, I applied for a second summer job as a swim instructor for the California Swim Academy and if I get that position, I can't wait to spend all my summer at a pool teaching kids how to swim. But, I'm really going to miss the people that are moving to their homes for the summer.

My friend Francisco, who I didn't hang out as much with as we did last semester, will be leaving for the Bay Area this Friday and I will miss him. I missed him last summer and I missed him during winter break. I hope that we actually road trip it up to his place this summer for real. My friend Aubrey is also leaving. We had some great times with her, especially after she moved in with Amber and Adriana. Her boyfriend, who goes to Fresno State also spent time with us and I will miss both of them. Finally, the new people in my life that I just started hanging out with I'm going to miss too. I wish we had met sooner and we could have had more memories together. Hopefully we can hang out next fall.

As for the semester, I definitely did better in all my classes than I did last semester. Last semester just sucked. Starting Fall '08 I'll be taking more Deaf Studies classes, which I'm looking forward to because that's my major. Can't wait for the summer and I hope you all have fantastic summers!
